Ah, the Midwest. Land of the Budweiser home of the casserole. It's the region from which I hail, and I'm glad for it. There's a wholesomeness to the midwest that the coasts seem to be lacking. It's big and flat, with plenty of elbow room, and the folks are friendly. Maybe there's a camaraderie that comes with the long, freezing winters. I went home for the holidays and remembered why I love it there. It's a slower pace, the lakes are beautiful and vast, and the bars and restaurants have a coziness to them that's hard to replicate elsewhere.
Sure, the Midwest is easy to dunk on, with its over-politeness and strange culinary traditions (Jell-O salad is kind of good though), but it has a pureness of heart that makes it impermeable to haters. If you're a proud Midwesterner, these memes will make you feel at home.
