Tumblr is overdue a big comeback. I know this has been said multiple times a year, every year for quite a long time, but the timing has really never been better. Twitter continues to swirl around the plughole of irrelevance as its popularity and usability nosedives, and people are getting sick of the overstimulation and constant advertising hammered through TikTok. The overly online just want a text-based platform where they can be a little silly and goofy, and this vintage option delivers on that front.
That said, many diehard Tumblr users would argue that the place never really went away. While the mainstream may have turned away from its myriad delights, it kept on churning out the kind of entertainment that has made it such an important influence on internet humor. Shining a light on its continued success in this regard is the least we can do. It's still got it.
