Maybe leaving their job was for the best. From the way this maintenance worker describes their work environment, it seems like they were way better off elsewhere.
We all grow and change in life, we can't help it. Things you once needed turn into things you've outgrown. That happens in careers, too. U/ProjectShadow316 shares that they realized they needed to move on from their job after about two years. It seems like a lot of people hit their limits around that time. Perhaps that's the time frame where the work starts to grow stale. The new-job phase is over, you know what your bosses and coworkers are really like by then, and you might even be eyeing up a job somewhere else.
The OP's boss seems like an unpleasant guy. The OP writes that they needed time off to take care of some family business, and that's an excuse that most jobs will be understanding of. But not this dude, who's apparently trying to win some kind of Worst Manager of the Year award.
You can read the OP's story below, as well as a few bonus stories from commenters (don't miss the one about the guy who travelled to Japan!). Then, have a laugh at these graphic design flops.
