Okay so don't get me wrong, my bengal boy is very clever with certain things like being able to open and get in to things he shouldn't. However, he does some things that are just plain stupid and he doesn't seem to learn. Some examples:

    1. Falls in to the bath all the time 2. Dives head first (doesn't put his legs out) and flips over somersault style. 3. Jumps and miscalculates heights so slams into to it eg cupboards and doors.
  • 05
    4. Sticks his paws in the toaster after it's been used so it's hot!? (I literally can't turn my back for second, he's obsessed with bread and always tries to steal it, I've had to resort to putting the toaster in a cupboard immediately after using it). 5. Constantly tries to steal bread items even though the few times he's been successful and bitten in to it, it's given him bad diarrhoea.

I'd like to caveat the above with the fact we are constantly trying to prevent him from hurting himself by putting things behind doors he can't open. Once we've noticed a dangerous behaviour we remove the item eg the toaster. We've also never given him bread or food off our plates but doesn't stop him trying his best to steal food. But it's getting to the point where nothing is seemingly

safe for him to be around. He also isn't an only cat, we have another cat he plays with all the time as well as us providing enrichment and play so I don't think the stupidity stems from boredom. Are all bengals a bit silly? Or is mine just a screw loose?

Benevolent Tenacity11 · 13 hr. ago I can confirm that mine is a clever idiot. Reply Share 112 murrtrip 12 hr. ago Their brains are half the size of a dog's. so please give them a break :) But they do manage to make more brain wrinkles in that small space, so they actually have more brain surface area to work with. Maybe there's something there. 422 ↓ Reply Share

RascalKnits 10 hr. ago Yes, they're clever, but mine is clumsy. There's a 'wildness' that makes them unpredictable and neurotic, I find. Moving furniture or putting up decorations? Arthur will have a diva sulk for 48 hours. And he's a beautiful pee-monster. Harder work than my 5 Orientals put together. 12 Reply Share

Successful-Bar8721 - 9 hr. ago Omg same thing with our female bengal. We moved the entertainment center to the other side of the room and she was whining for an hour. She doesn't even go on the entertainment center. She is also a beautiful pee monster and her favorite canvas is the couch when she's mad at us 6 Reply Share

bigstinky 12 hr. ago I had a Bengal rescue. I was warned...They were correct. Bengals aret...They just do what they want. Mine became my best buddy. He would talk to me with chirps and mews and waps,,,I learned that each of these sounds meant something. Hello! Feed me! My litter box is in disarray...He was kind of like a dog. I miss him so much. He passed away in my arms from a botched colon stricture surgery at 13. This dude would leap to the most insane spots, like

OhLQQk 7 hr. ago We have two from the same litter though we didn't get them the same day. One is very calm and it hasn't been until now that he's older that he's more vocal. His sister is high energy and into everything and talks all day long. She's super protective of him will talk for him if he hides or when people come over she will patrol so hes ok. It's very cute. Their breeder told us it was very unusual he was so calm but not to worry and maybe buy a lottery ticket bc she's had many and t

daffodil0127 12 hr. ago One of my boys is freakishly smart. The other one, not so much. The derpy one is usually close by and I have to try to decipher why he's screaming for me. It's usually for his own enjoyment. I think the smart one understands a lot of English words. You'd never know they came from the same parents. 11 Reply Share

Fair_Ask652 11 hr. ago Mine is almost 2. And he understands the word "No". He is mortally offended by "No" and he will immediately fight you if you say it to him. We have had to find alternatives. 10+ Reply Share

Fit_Afternoon4604 · 12 hr. ago You've literally described my cat, Savannah here Even down to being so intelligent she can get into things she shouldn't (and god is she determined!) but then the amount of times she's been messing around on the bannister and fallen down half the stairs is unreal 10 Reply Share

PoopingDogEyeContact - 8 hr. ago Mine too! I wanted to set her up with a vertical play area but there's no way I am going to let her climb up a wall when she falls off the wide FLAT sofa back (ikea klippan is super wide) 42 Reply Share

yhaensch 11 hr. ago My vet asked when meeting him the first time . "Wait, this was a breeding tomcat? Did they lift him on the cat?" He learns tricks for treats but forgets where the cat door to our house is, by the end of summer. (Secured garden). 3 Reply Share
