One of the best things to come out of the train wreck that was the last four years of existence globally was the newfound discovery that working remotely was indeed possible for many jobs. Of course, this was something that workers everywhere had been trying to tell their bosses for years, but the top brass, afraid of upsetting the status quo and sending their companies into a tailspin—and wanting to maintain every last ounce of control over their workers—insisted that it just wasn't possible.
Lo and behold, when workers were actually given the opportunity to work from home (thanks to certain global events), it was found that all those workers were right… their jobs could be done from home. These companies did fine; some companies able to operate effectively in this way did even better. But now, a few years later, that's all being forgotten. In those same sectors that thrived during the "work from home" period, more and more workers are being told to return to the office or hit the road.
Anyways, even though that's not exactly the discussion at hand in this popular online thread, it fits the theme: An arrogant CEO insisting that their workers can't work from home—except for when it suits them and works in their favor.
