I saved my company $1Million I saved my company $1Million once (well closer to 1.05M). At the rewards party for completion of the successful year, I was recognized for doing that and got a dufflebag as my reward for

going above and beyond, coming up with novel ideas, working with the client for special approval, negotiations with the vendor to conform to client spec and change theirs, working long hours to make it happen...

I am a top performer, resident expert, a lot rides on my shoulders, work long hours, great attitude, encourage others, and it matters not to the greedy companies. they have converted me. I have joined the dark side of the force.

Jerome-T 23 hr. ago The day I learned this I learned how to be a sustainable employee. Where the boundaries are, what the actual requirements are, etc. now I'm a more consistent, more chill employee.

BadKidGames 20 hr. ago You'll get treated better too. They're always shocked when they work hard and don't get promoted... You're already providing exceptional value for low cost, why would the company want to change that?

Lazy-Performance-418 23 hr. ago Saved a govt agency $3M per year indefinitely. Was reprimanded for not having another plan to spend that money to prevent the next year budget from being cut by $3M.... That's your tax $$ at work when managed by toxic leaders.

SnooDonuts4137 22 hr. ago Bro. I saved 6 million 2 years back. All for a 20k yearly bonus which I would have gotten just by existing. I threatened to walk and they dangled a director label coming soon only to walk it back and hire a team in India instead. I completely shut down after that and maybe put in two hours of actual work a week.

The VP keeps asking me to find more savings which I then explain that I am too busy "skilling up" to lackeys you hired overseas to secretly replace me because my $135k/year salary is too much for someone who has no idea what I do.

I'm at 400 something with 3Js and now am just riding it out until the severance comes along. The company literally blows millions of dollars because they cut everyone and no one read an invoice or cancels things they are not using.

stealth-monkey. 23 hr. ago Remember, every single company would pay us nothing if they could get away with it. They will ask for the most work for the least amount of money. Never forget that.

EatTheMcDucks - 23 hr. ago My team saved the company $2B annually (with a B). As a thank you, they laid us off. Edit: They gave us lunch before firing us. It was at an Irish place and it was good. Irish stew is delicious.

Baked Potato_732 22 hr. ago I worked for a large company named after a pretty big river and figured out how to generate about 600k more per year in profit. I asked for .5% of the first years projected profits as a bonus for me and .5% for the other guy who sort of helped. Instead they said they would give me a pizza party and a t-shirt and I never got the t-shirt.

EKasis 22 hr. ago Many years ago, when I was an intern, my area was losing $50k+ every day due to a production line not working properly. I was only a project management intern (I'd been working there for less than a month) and was tasked with fixing it because the entire engineering team in charge of that resigned due to horrible leadership.
  • 22
It took me 3 days to understand, plan, execute, and fix the issue, and my fix held up until the new engineering team arrived 3 weeks later.

In the end, I saved the company a little bit over $1M. Didn't even get my boss or coworkers to thank me. I quit for a different job a few days later. They don't care about you or your achievements. You're just cogs in the machine.
