Nua Follow @nua_peasant Gen Z's inability to engage in normal, thorough, friendly, two-way communication is staggering. They don't know how to provide complete information; they don't know how to acknowledge that they've received and understood information you've provided. They appear not to understand nor care about everyday "please and thank you" type manners. I'm speaking about supposedly competent people in their early-twenties who are in nursing school or similar. It appears that Gen X esse

Nua @nua_peasant Follow Gen Z's deficient communication skills are so extreme that I can't imagine they'll be capable of sustaining a civilization once they age into more positions of authority and influence, especially when you consider the rampant anxiety and that's also layered in. Yes, I know there are exceptions. It's not enough.

Geoffrey Miller @primalpoly - 2d Replying to @nua_peasant I blame texting, and the Gen Z terror of having an actual voice call to coordinate anything in their lives.

Annie Lyon @this_occupy 2d Replying to @nua_peasant Again, we're living in parallel universes. I'm a 55 yo pediatric OT working w/ 25-32 yos w/ masters degrees. Their biggest concern is w/each other and what they're getting boyfriends for birthday than the families we serve. "Kindness" over competence. They think it's enough.

AZOG CRYPTOR... @AzogCryptorc Follow Replying to @nua_peasant They are trying to "NOT look bad" at all costs.

Luke Tera @Luke_Tera 2d Replying to @nua_peasant It's all parenting. My brothers' two Gen Z teenagers are super intelligent, pleasant, curious, and a joy to interact with. My brother and his wife did hybrid homeschooling, so these are not your average US teens.

Hussar The Nomad @hussartheno... 1d: Replying to @nua_peasant Just sayin... JULY 16, 1990 Should the West Help Gorbachev? $2.50 TIME twentysomething Laid back, late blooming or just lost? Overshadowed by the baby boomers, America's next generation has a hard act to follow.

Jason McCutchen @jason_mccutchen Follow Replying to @nua_peasant Yep. I worked with high school kids for 15 years and in that time I saw the shift. It went from students who could laugh and participate in humor to def-eyed phone zombies in a matter of 4 years. Its was crazy.

sigma certain of perf... @fightinbobbyl Replying to @nua_peasant Follow zoomers will text each other when they're sitting in the same room. I think the issue is they're become so accustomed to communicating that way, where you can edit what you say before you say it, that actual verbal communication terrifies them

Lucy Stone @lucystone1871.2d Replying to @nua_peasant It's freaky, right? Like NOD TO TELL ME YOU UNDERSTAND levels of social awkwardness with this crew. It's WILD.

Betz @allen_brutus 2d Replying to @nua_peasant Being overly permissive when they are small and then overly critical when they grow up is terrible parenting Don't allow them to be little jerks from age 4 to 11 and then expect them to act like humans at age 15

@falshay 2d Replying to @nua_peasant I've learned more about their disconnected communication style ever since I started working w/ a new 24 year old receptionist. I'll be telling a story with 3rd person characters and she reacts/responds like I'm talking about her personally... it's super strange

constans @constans. 1d Leaving aside the stereotypical GenX hate-- you hate us 'cause you ain't us-- I think what grates on this person is the lack of performative communication. People are now less willing to indulge a person when they performatively ask about information that doesn't exist

DUMB Dumb @dumbbitchmag. 2d Biggest thing I've noticed is they don't ask clarifying questions. They just sit confused, wondering what to do, no idea how to get a better understanding of something. Questions don't exist, they either understand something or it's not important

Maarten Kossmann @ait_kisou • 2d . So good to see the discourse about 1980s youth repeated again, but now about their children
  • 18
stressica @_JESSrelax. 18h As a member of Gen Z, this is true. A LOT of young people do not know how to converse on any level beyond 5 minutes.

Rebekah Faida @Rebekah Faidia ⚫ 2d I said hi to a friends 18 yr old daughter at the store and she looked at me like a deer in headlights. She was unable to make small talk and was afraid that an adult was talking to her. It was super pathetic and sad

222 @0xe222.1d I used to think boomers were the worst generation of parents ever. But now that I'm older and see the absolute trainwreck that genX parenting has been I'm eternally grateful for my boomer led upbringing.
