Never become too attached to your job. Unfortunately for Ted, his loyalty to the company would never be rewarded. Instead, despite working at his company for more than 40 years, he would be unceremoniously fired over a Zoom meeting. To make matters worse, Ted was given a nice severance package, but only if he went along with a fabricated story his boss concocted that he had actually resigned to pursue other career opportunities.
As the Redditor recounts in their post, everyone was distraught after Ted's departure, and his coworkers were immediately suspicious given how well-known it was that Ted loved his job. However, it became clear what actually happened here when the owner's son was suddenly promoted to management and was gradually taking on Ted's old responsibilities as if nothing ever happened and no one else would even notice.
