A Karen's going to leave a bad review no matter what. For small businesses, sole proprietors, and contractors, these 1 and 2-star reviews can be a death sentence, so when you know that the outcome is inevitable and the bad review is on the way anyway, you might as well get a little petty revenge of your own.
Small-time contractors know when they've got an unruly customer on their hands.
Never satisfied, fueled by self-loathing, and likely sporting an unsightly bob haircut, Karens have no boundaries when it comes to their entitlement. And any blue-collar tradesman can tell you that they're most likely to be targeted by the exploitations of a Karen because 'services' are not considered labor, but a right to the customer.
So when the locksmith in our next story encountered this 1-star Karen, he knew right away that he had a problem client. She continually took advantage of his time, changing her mind, sending him on futile errands around the city, and wasting his energy–all the while, refusing to compensate him for his time, labor, gas, and expenses.
Ultimately, the final straw broke the camel's back when the Karen, dissatisfied with another above-and-beyond service from her locksmith, demanded he compensate HER for her wasted time, demanding he pay her $100 for wasting her time with an unsightly doorknob.
