New Hire coordinator on me for bringing coffee to orientation??
  • 03
I started a new job yesterday. I've been doing computer training for the past 2 days.
  • 04
Today I came in at the exact time I was told to be there with a coffee. The new hire coordinator made a snarky backhanded comment about how coffee is great but maybe tomorrow I could be there before I'm supposed to be??

I just laughed it off, but I felt like asking her whether I wasn't aware coffee isn't allowed and whether I was late or something lol. I didn't show up early because all I'm doing is sitting in their lobby on a laptop all day, for 7 hours. This being said, I'm doing online training about boring and useless You're that I already know. right I need a coffee to keep me awake.

It's not like I walked in 10 minutes late with coffee. I'd understand having an issue with that. If I was actually out on the floor for the day, of course I'd arrive earlier than the start time. But I'm walking straight into the lobby, sitting my on the chair and staring at a computer for 7 hours. In fact, the other new individual starting with me was 30 minutes late yesterday. Did she make a backhanded remark to him? Nope.

I feel like arriving 15 minutes early tomorrow, with a coffee, just to be a In fact I'd like to bring her one and tell her maybe it would cheer her up and make her less bitter.

SweetDreamsCheif. 15 hr. ago Don't go in early. That's a trick. They make you feel guilty so you do more for less. Took me 20 years to figure that out. Don't be like me. If that were me now, I'd bring in the biggest coffee I could carry and come in 1 minute late.

malthar76 13 hr. ago Even if you do arrive early (anxiety) stand outside but where they can see you. Drink that coffee in peace, don't set foot in the building until the appointed time.

CraigLePaige2 · 15 hr. ago Show up tomorrow with coffee in hand and on time. You don't owe them else. .

SuckerForNoir Robots 9 hr. ago If you want to play dumb, you can ask her for clarification on what time your shift starts. Tell her you thought it was whatever time you showed up, and then ask if she actually wants you clocking in 10 minutes

early or whatever. This way you put her into a position where she either has to confirm that your start time is your start time, or she's agreeing to pay you for starting earlier.

Eve_Jinx_ 16 hr. ago Ah yes, because drinking coffee at the start of a long and boring work day is a crime worthy of snarky comments. I guess I'll have to start arriving 30 minutes early just to avoid any more judgment from the New Hire Coordinator. Maybe she needs a coffee to lighten up and stop being so bitter. Keep doing you and enjoying your coffee, my friend.

Pizzasloot714 12 hr. ago That's dumb. They want you to come in earlier and do for free. I had a supervisor once try to guilt me for wanting to take the extra Saturday mid shift off because I had something planned. Said he missed a lot of stuff and I was like you might not give a bro, about having a life, but I give a about mine and work isn't my entire life or identity.

Unlikely_Wallaby 9507 10 hr. ago I'd joke right back to him that I'll be there early, if that pay me for that time, per Federal law.
