Much of internet humor relies on the premise of relatability. Most things that go viral fall into one of two categories: so weird and random that they seem like a true novelty, or so perfectly fitting into people's lives and worldviews that they can't help but engage with it. The ecosystem needs all that highly relatable content to keep it going, so it's just as well that the overly online are so willing to keep providing it. It many ways, it's quite gratifying to see a post or meme that so many others have also liked; it shows that deep down, we're not all that different from one another. It can also be a bit sobering, but that's just a part of the entertainment process.
