Two old women come in, breeze right past the people waiting, and seat themselves in a booth. I inform then there is a wait at the moment but they could seat. themselves at the bar and the

bartender would be with them shortly, though she was as busy as me. But oh no, this booth is where they MUST sit. I grab menus for them, tell them it'll be at *least* fifteen minutes before I can get to them.
  • 09
Five minutes later they're flagging me down. I tell them there are people ahead of them, I'll get to them as quickly as I can, and thank them for their patience.

Five minutes later they're flagging me down again. I tell them I'm sorry but there are still people at the door who arrived before they did, to please be patient and I'll get to them shortly.
  • 11
Five minutes after that, they flag me down again and DEMAND to order, they've been sitting here fifteen minutes already and they know exactly what they want. I lose it.

"Ma'am, I told you when you came in there would be a wait of at least fifteen minutes. There is a reason we have a Please Wait To Be Seated sign at the front door."

They got all huffy and left, but I got great tips from my other guests lol. I told the mgr he might get a call about me but he wasn't too concerned and I did the right thing. We'll see if that changes if/when corporate calls, but I still don't regret it.

Pineapple_Complex • 1d ago I mean, if you blow past a line of people waiting to be seated who aren't seated yet, it's kind of your fault when you get ignored

line. The other guests saw these demanding service when you hadn't even seated the guests who arrived before them. The fact that you took care of the problem is wonderful. As a guest, I would have tipped you well also. don't stop at abusing the employees. They also poff the other customers.

hhagz13 • 8h ago It sounds like you were as professional as possible. When people have blatant disregard for the practices of a business, like the "wait time", that's on them. If they self-seat, it's the equivalent of cutting in line.

It's crazy to me that some people are so unaware of how a restaurant operates...lol. I've also been in the industry for like 10 years, so maybe some people just don't get it. I chalk it up to "street smarts" and "book smarts". A better term for "street smarts" would be "basic life skills and social awareness".

dmdc256 OP • 7h ago To be honest I was so busy and I had so many booths open I wasn't that worried about it, I was just bound to determined they were not going to go in front of everybody else.
