Mama Bear Defends Daughter From Elderly Woman Who Calls the Toddler a ‘Monster’ for Behaving Like a Child at a Renaissance Faire
Parenting is already hard enough without others yelling in your ear about everything they think you're doing wrong. Sometimes, you get folks who have parented themselves and still have something to say about your children and how you deal with them. To the hardworking moms out there: don't let anyone tell you you're in the wrong for being compassionate toward your children! If anyone has something unkind to say, politely tell them to mind their own darn business! We're all just doing our best.
The mama bear in this story made sure to have her claws out in defense of her three-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Mom was at a Renaissance faire with her toddler, who was clearly exhausted from the day's grueling festivities. I mean, ren faires are definitely overwhelming for anyone, let alone a not-yet-four-year-old. Her daughter ended up having what the mother describes as a "meltdown", screaming and crying in the public bathroom. Like the good mother she is, she calmly soothed her daughter and spoke to her in a gentle tone. As Mama and her cub left the restroom, a kind woman applauded her patience.
Some people aren't as understanding as others. An elderly woman pokes fun at the original poster (OP) and her daughter's meltdown, calling her a "screamer" sarcastically. Even when OP lets the elderly woman know that her daughter had gotten tired from a fun day at the faire, elderly Karen suggests OP leave her daughter at home next time. Claws out! The two have a back-and-forth, with OP getting the last deserved petty word.
