The best way to learn the value of your things is to pay for them yourself. When I discovered my laptop screen was broken and would take $400 to fix, I was devastated and put off fixing it for as long as possible. I was embarrassed that I had treated my possession so recklessly that it had to have so much money thrown at it to be repaired. Since then, I've been as careful as I could possibly be with my laptop. I don't put drinks by it, and I always set it down as gently as possible. Maybe spending $400 was worth learning such a valuable life lesson.
Some might argue that you can't learn the value of things unless you have to go without them. That's what one teenage girl will probably have to do after breaking her iPhone 13 for the second time in a matter of months.
