Entitlement comes in many shapes and sizes. To start off, I'm in no way faulting the children. Parents should teach their kids at a very young age what is and isn't acceptable behavior when it comes to literal street smarts.
You won't want to hop in your car and take a drive through your neighborhood if there's a risk of a child playing in the middle of the street. Even worse, a child running out in front of your vehicle because they were taught the streets are reserved for them and nobody else. Not even the vehicles!
If you've faced similar issues in your neighborhood, we're sure you'll feel for this guy. The original poster (OP) of this story is expressing grief over a recent PSA that went out on his neighborhood's Facebook page. He claims that children as young as two years old play in the street, unsupervised. He mentions he's been victim to stalling his drive for five minutes because children were sitting in the middle of the street playing with Barbie dolls, and he simply cannot fathom why this PSA is getting what he calls a "thunderous applause." He seems resigned to his fate of being unable to drive in his neighborhood, especially because neighbors are suggesting that folks who don't live on certain streets shouldn't drive down on them, either.
Talk about entitlement. They can keep their children safe by supervising them and having them play in their own yard, which the OP mentions each home has. Scroll to read the entire story, and additionally, some similar experiences from commenters.
