Man Considers Canceling Wedding After Fiancée Expects Him to Gift Her Brother $20,000 Rolex Watch: ‘You’re being cheap’
Welcome back ladies and gentlemen of the internet. Money is notorious for splitting up partners, parents, and any two people in any relationship. Friendships are torn apart because of this little piece of paper and cotton. Expectations about money should be talked about as early as possible, so that no one in the relationship is misguided and misinformed. If it's not talked about early, unfortunate outcomes could unfurl in ways that could have been avoided.
In this Reddit thread, the original poster (OP) is an engaged man. He gifts his own brother, who he's best friends with, an incredibly expensive Rolex watch. His fiancée's brother is getting married, and as a gift he gives him a $2,000 gift card. This isn't enough for his fiancée though, and after some passive aggressive comments, she tells him he should have spent more. There's a word for this…oh, can you say gold-digger?
