If you're going to lie to your boss, you'd better be careful about it. It's really risky: if things go wrong and your boss or colleagues find out you fibbed, you risk not only losing your job, but losing your career. In some industries, word travels fast, and jobs aren't going to hire someone they've heard bad things about. Losing your integrity means people will see you in a different light.
Still, to some employees, it's just not that serious. Taking a sick day to visit the beach with your friends might seem like a perfect idea in the moment. After all, your manager is in the office, how would they ever find out you're soaking up the sun? Well, a single social media post tagging you in a beach picture could out you. Or if you mention it to a colleague who isn't trustworthy, that could get you in hot water, too.
These people had coworkers who called out of work for some absolutely hilarious reasons, which you can read below. Then, read about the super petty ways that fast food workers got back at their worst customers, like one person who put so many onions on a hamburger that the "look on [the customer's] face when she opened that burger was priceless."
