There are a lot of perks to being a single, 30-something career woman. For starters, if you're not feeling like making dinner for a family of 4 tonight, you can go ahead and order your favorite takeout food. And if someone bought you last-minute tickets to a 2-week-long Caribbean cruise, you could leave your world behind and be a jet setter in no time! Without any loose ends–like children or pets–you're entirely free to go wherever you want, eat whatever you want, and do whatever you want… Unlike a mom.
As a mother of twins, the woman in this next story had grown entitled to her family's babysitting hospitality and expected her single sister to drop everything. She wanted her to relinquish her illustrious lifestyle at the drop of a hat so that she could relive her own bachelorette years. With only a week's notice, she called her up and begged her sister to babysit her two 10-year-old daughters for several weeks so that she could go off on her own and travel.
Although the sister had many, many reasons to refuse (i.e., because of the inherent audacity), she gracefully told her big sis that she had huge work commitments that wouldn't allow her to be a full-time parent to her nieces during those weeks. And instead of being okay with those boundaries, the mom flipped out.
