10+ Schoolkids whose teachers made mistakes and got parents involved: 'I got in trouble for picking up snow'

Class is in session, children! It's time to sit down, be very quiet, and learn from the teacher. These are skills kids should have learned at home… but they don't always learn them until they get to school. It isn't easy for young children to sit still, listen attentively, write for long periods of time, and focus on tests and quizzes. With each passing generation, teachers seem to fret more and more about the ways that their students are misbehaving. 

However, some teachers take the rules too far. That's when the parents have to get involved! They may write out a quick email, or if it's a more serious matter, they might have to sit down and have a talk with the teacher and/or principal one-on-one. 

Some people have dealt with ridiculous rules that they didn't personally care for, but which aren't especially egregious. A lot of folks, myself included, rally against petty dress code issues, like schools that limit hairbands or hairstyles. This is inconvenient, but there's not much that either a parent or student could do to change it. On the other hand, some offenses are targeted at a specific student, and if that kid and their parent finds it unfair, there's going to be a discussion.

    Birdie_Burdie Read an article a while back that during a hot summer in the UK the boys at a school weren't allowed to wear shorts, whereas the girls could wear skirts as it was part of the uniform and shorts weren't... The boys. began coming to school wearing skirts in protest.

    young_jawn My nephew's teacher called to say that he started meowing and then the whole class started meowing and now it sounds like she's running a pet shop instead of a classroom... He's 7 with diagnosed ADHD and we regularly get calls home about him, but this one was pretty ridiculous.

    [deleted] I'm more amazed at the dumb sh behavior kids do that their parents defend. We're past "helicopter parents" these days are into "lawnmower parents".....parents who think their kids do no wrong and will actively cut down any adult who disagrees.

    was presumably, "throwing snowballs". Tf you mean? I got caught picking up snow and of course being 7-8 years old I feel like I'm in trouble and they made me call my mom and I had to tell her I was in trouble for throwing snow even though there was no forcible punishment, so I get home and my mom thought it was the stupidest thing ever because she was at work

    ended up my mom off because I got sent home. from school with a huge page for saying "pikachu". I ended up not having to do it plus got to stay home the next day

    Who takes dodgeball this seriously?

    JamalKs1994 My younger cousin once got a detention back in 2006 for "physically attacking a student" when all he did was push him while playing dodgeball and the boy did an exonerated fall. Like literally, he threw himself to the ground and fake cried. No tears were even made. This is in my cousins words

    Tremulant887 11th grade. Mom forgot something for work and turned around to go home. and get it. I was 5 mins late for school. New secretary / attendance lady gave me detention. I fought the issue because it really wasn't my fault, and punishment for being late once and out of my control was a ordeal.

    This was this ladies first year. Her second and final year was a fun one, too. She caused 5 people of a class. of 33 to not graduate due to their attendance. All of them having good enough grades, just slightly bad attendance, so she hurts 15% of an entire class so they have to go on to get a GED.

    [deleted] I went to a technical high school and half way through my time there the student ran bakery wasn't allowed to sell to students anymore. This nearly k lled the baking program there. I hate when people decide how I should live my life. Thanks a lot
