Someone tell this man that pressuring the girls into taking his surname is not going to make them any more of a family or make them think of him any more as a father figure. If anything, they will resent him for his insistence on changing such a personal facet of their identity for the sake of his ego.

Man pressures step-daughters into changing their last name to include his, girls refuse, honoring the memory of their late father: "I don't need your name for anything!"
Have you ever had to legally change your name? It is kind of a huge deal and requires quite a bit of patience due to the painstaking bureaucratic processes. Apparently, it helps to have a name change tied to a specific, well-documented event, such as a divorce or wedding. Many newlyweds who choose to adopt their partner's surname or add it to their legal name go through this process, but people change their names for all sorts of reasons. While the red tape is annoying, it is there, in part, to ensure that those changing their names are doing so of their own volition.
In our story today, two young girls are pressured by their step-father to add his surname to their own. They refuse, preferring not to taint the sanctity of their late dad's last name by hyphenating it with the surname of a man they do not see as a true father figure. Unfortunately, their parents do not take the rejection so lightly. Scroll down to get the full story.
