    "Maliciously Complianced Myself: Ski Resort"

Wife and I decided we wanted our kids to learn how to ski so we bought a black Friday deal at the local ski resort of lesson packages. Two of them. They came with 5 lessons, rentals, half day passes, and a season pass after the lessons to the resort for like $500/kid. It was a good deal.

Anyway we get through 3 lessons early in the season and the kids are getting the hang of it so I request from the lodge if I could have the season passes early so we can go more. The nice lady was like no we don't do that you have to complete the

lessons first. I protest and ask to speak to the manager. He agrees and issues the season passes early in the season in December.

He got me... My dumb b t didn't know they go year to year instead of ending at the end of the snow season there by making them useless for the following year of skiing. If I had

finished the lessons we might have had a full extra year of skiing included.... Now I have to go buy season passes again cause my kids love it! Lol... F me.

Smeegs3 Season pass should apply to the season. I've never heard of a ski resort using annual dates for passes. I would be livid

[deleted] OP Yeah I didn't quite understand it and that's on me. I assumed it would end in the spring thaw but they are good for a full 12 months after issuance.

Bob8372 I think a lot of people are confused about what exactly happened. You got to use your passes for a full 12 months after you got them, correct? The post reads a lot like you're getting the passes now and they will expire in 4 weeks bc that's the end of the year.

The parent explained more clearly that they didn't get the worst deal ever...

[deleted] OP You are probably right. Maybe this will help: the idea is to start kids taking lessons slowly at first. So we signed them up in November 2021. Ideally they'd get to go 5 times in the 21-22 snow season then at the end of that season be issued a pass good for 12 months for the following 22-23 snow season. Because I got it issued early in 21 I can't use it in 23. We would have gotten a lot more skiing in for the $$ if I'd followed the plan.

ImAGhost-9. Wanted to speak to the manager lol... got humbled real quick after realizing that you just got served with instant self karma

It's nice to see a customer admit they were wrong

InQue623 OP. Yes I did. I feel pretty stupid. I wasn't mean about it in my request but I didn't get what I wanted.

pepperjack87. That the dumbest thing ever. totally not your fault. Every resort I've ever heard of sells "season passes" not "yearly passes"
  • 18
GelatinousSalsa. Did the manager or anyone else inform you that the season passes was per calendar year and not snow season before you insisted on getting them early?
  • 19
InQue623 OP. They may have tried explaining it to me but I did not clearly understand it obviously. I'm sure the nice lady tried at first. I guess it's a commonly understood thing

at this resort but i of course didn't understand it. I thought like most of you that the season pass ended with the current snow season so i requested the passes early to try and get more use out of them.

KG8893 They are both They could have just explained that to you. I'd be calling whoever is that guys boss to get a refund. You could also just go skiing a sh load this month to make up for it...
