Pregnant sisters fight over who has the spotlight, jealousy unravels as golden child daughter gets “better treatment” from mother: “You don’t see me being pathetic like that”
Sisterly rivalry is real. Growing up with a sister can mean you're either best friends, or worst enemies. I feel afforded to have the privilege of a very loving, sweet, and maternal older sister, but I know it's not always the case. Jealousy, rivalry for the parent's attention, or competition at who is the one who can achieve more. The best is when you're so completely opposite that there can't be competition or rivalry. One is the brains, and one is the brawn. One is the "pretty" one, the other is the hoydenish tomboy. One likes dad, the other likes mom. One wants to be a doctor, the other wants to work part time at the local café and regularly attend music festivals.
In the story below, the sister's rivalry is their pregnancy. One has had four kids already, while the other is on her first pregnancy. Of course, every pregnancy and baby is special, but when it's your first then there's a certain glow and attention from other people around it. To the disappointment of one sister who thinks her family is betraying her.
