I adopted a mess of a cat I impulsively adopted this cat after my previous baby had to be put down. I found her through a small rescue that had taken her from a different rescue (which was "essentially a lady hoarding cats" according to the woman I chatted with). She

This stocky girl was all up in my business when we met and I totally felt chosen. We are close to (but not quite) done eliminating the fleas she unknowingly came home with. I had to

I know this one will never replace my old one. And I wonder if I made too quick of a decision to get another friend. I feel good that a cat that bounced around rescues is now a pet and doesn't have a life of chaos. She makes some hilarious noises running around my apartment and constantly wants my attention, but

wants my attention, but good grief I haven't ever had a cat bite me as much as this one has. I know they're love nips from overstimulation but still. She has stopped hiding under the bed when other people are in my home, so I have hope for better adjustment with time.

BrunchBi nes My Siamese baby also nips me constantly, she'll crawl into my lap to snuggle up and I won't even pet her then boom a nibble. I pet her then boom nibbles. Doesn't seem to matter, just always love nips.

rightonthemoney1 Mine does that too! He is the most gentle little thing but when he's heavily purring, he'll just randomly start nibbling at my finger →

iheartfuzzies OP Part of me wants to nibble back lol ↑ 8 > Reply fiberjeweler Sometimes I gently nibble back. Mia, my "baby"Siamese.

njosephine Thank you for rescuing her! I know the love she gives back will be worth it. If it helps, that guilt doesn't go away (omg already tearing up). My 20 yr old family cat that we had since a kitten had passed last yr (lived at parents house). She was theeee sweetest, so gentle. Hubby &

sweetest, so gentle. Hubby & I took in HIS family cat of 17 yrs. Porch cat all her life turned indoor cat when they had to redo MIL's porch where she predominantly hung out. I still feel ashamed to love on her so much sometimes but I know it comes from missing my other cat. Same thing tho, as a porch cat, she got little to no attention so when we did

start petting her omgggg she was nippy af. It's calmed down significantly but I also never let my guard down. Just continue to respect her boundaries and be aware of body language. Also pet in small doses. It took her about a yr and a half to come around but she now cuddles with me and loves me more than hubby. It's such an

than hubby. It's such an honor to gain their trust and affection. We never lose the love we have of our previous pet, we just make room to love another. best of luck!

iheartfuzzies OP Thanks for the reassurance! In a lot of ways she is easy not picky about food, lets me trim her nails, comes to me when I pat on whatever is near me. But the bitinggggg Imao

RhainEDaize *Patience. That's it. You've had cats before. So you know everything is on their terms. P.s. she's a beauty.

WeAreAllMycelium She will be ok. The eyes will clear up. She had a fever, her face will darken back up. Just shower her with love, and give it time. It took a full 3 months for our Meezer to let her whole freak flag fly. Now she runs our house, people and dog.

iheartfuzzies OP I don't think that's a residual fever mask (could be wrong though). I'm guessing based on how spotted her feet are that she is more of a super dilute tortie point even though the vet papers have lilac point dsh/siamese (depending on which docs you look at). I'm not terribly concerned either way, I just want her to live her best little freak life lol

WatercolorCurtain She's so beautiful! I think there's never a too fast or too slow for getting a new cat, and that you're never replacing the old one. There's so many cats that need good homes that even if you moved a little quickly, it means one more cat is safe and loved in its forever home.

iheartfuzzies OP I am a huge softie for animals overall. I grew up with dogs but my CDS Siamese made me a bit obsessed with kooky cat behavior :)

Future-Dimension1... Give her time and some feliway. It took my rescued ragdoll six months before I really saw who SHE was. That girl has never had a home. She doesn't know how to properly be a house cat and speak human yet. It's not a mistake. The Cat distribution system knows what it's doing. You can heal each other.

iheartfuzzies OP My last cat was immune to so many cat things (calming spray and catnip in particular). Maybe I should give it a shot again and see. This one really is a good cat for the most part, I'm definitely not sending her back for being mouthy!

No_Gas_1659 My siamese boy love nips me too lol it's a way of expressing overstimulation. Like cute aggression. You know how people see a really cute baby, and they say "ooooh you're so cute, I could just eat you up!"? well that's
  • 28
kind of how cats get too when you're petting them and they like it a whole lot lol my siamese boy, Simba does it a lot. But he only bites hard enough to hold my hand in his mouth. Never hard enough to hurt or break skin. Siamese have very personable, tempermental attitudes. They're really vocal too. I call it the Chirpies. They sound like pigeons, cooing, and chirping sometimes

they'll "honk" too. Oriental kitties are chatty and moody. Have fun! She's beautiful I'm sorry the breeder wasn't professional or careful with her fur babies.
