It's not easy to be a kid for some people, and childhood is marred by disturbing memories of toxic living environments.

This father wonders why his 13-year-old hates him? He doesn't even care that he's shipped off to his aunts. There's no love and commitment involved. It's hard enough for this kid to be going through the ins and outs of having a single parent, as well as having a blended family. Having stepsiblings is one thing, but feeling like you're not the priority over them is another. I would be absolutely horrified and heartbroken if my father treated me like that.
