“I told you so”: 26-year-old man warns girlfriend about her creepy guy friend, she ignores his admonitions and hangs out with him alone anyway, leading to betrayal and trust issues

Ladies and gentlemen, the story below is about the age old debate regarding opposite gender friendships. Half the world thinks they're okay, and the other half think they're a recipe for disaster. What do you think? Can men and women truly be platonic friends? Will the man always be waiting for her to be vulnerable and single to make his move, or secretly hoping she'll change her mind from platonic to romantic one day? Will the girl use him as her emotional boyfriend without the intimacy benefits? Every situation is different, and I think there's no reason a man and woman can't be friends. It just takes maturity and a certain sense of boundaries from both sides. How you act or touch your female friends may not be the right move with a male friend. 

In the story below, the protagonist is a man who's in a relationship. His girlfriend's best friend is a guy, but that's not the problem. When he comes to meet said male best friend, he's instantly uncomfortable. The guy is mocking him, silencing him, and demeaning him. He's even checking out the dude's girlfriend (his friend).     Over dinner, Greg contradicted me on virtually everything I said. He was relentless. I'd talk about something for about 30 seconds, and he'd move his head to the side and say, "Well...," then going into details about how I was wrong. Cindy seemed to be having a good time though, so I sucked it up.
