UPDATE “MY CAT STILL IN HEAT AFTER GETTING SPAYED”

Hello everyone!! I couldn't do an update on my other post, so I am making new one!
  • 02
After her heat finished I thought it was all done, but then she was having a lot of discharge and she seemed in pain because she was growling.

  • 04
I decided to take her to another vet further away, and I explained everything to her.
  • 05
She informed me that my cat could not be in heat if she didn't have ovaries, so she suggested for another surgery.

  • 07
She also guessed that she might have cysts since she is having discharge and might be dangerous so she took her for surgery the next day.
  • 08
After surgery was done I was veryyy shocked to find out that the other vet, not only didn't remove one of her ovaries, but also she never removed her uterus!!! Which caused her to have Pyometra, thus explaining why she kept having discharge!!

I couldn't believe that I took her to the other vet TWICE, to take the SAME surgery TWICE, and for my cat to have a THIRD surgery because a "vet"couldn't do the job right!!!
  • 11
I wouldn't wish this on my worse enemy!! This is a reminder to check where you take your dear pet, and to spend a little extra in a good vet, because then you might have to pay triple (like I did) to fix the mistakes of an incompetent vet!!!
  • 12
As for my cat, she is good thankfully!! She recovered pretty quickly and is happily catching grasshoppers in the garden!!

SithRose Get the documentation from Vet 2 and go to Vet 1 demanding your money back. They mucked up wildly and the documentation from Vet 2 will prove it.
  • 15
Calgary_Calico Definitely report this to the veterinary college where you live, this should never have happened in the first place
  • 16
adamttaylor That is insane. I thought maybe they she had 3 ovaries or something, but not removing the uterus is crazy. You should get your money back at the very least.
  • 17
Significant-Crow1324 That's actually some wild medical malpractice. They would be seeing court papers from me
  • 18
Illustrious_Spell676 Wow, this is unbelievable! As a cat rescuer/rehabber, I have seen cats who still have symptoms of heat due to some residual tissue or a stray ovary but have never heard of the ENTIRE uterus being intact!

That is nearly impossible to miss. I hope you got some good imaging done to determine what the h I happened during the first and second surgeries... because I have no idea how a vet could explain putting a cat under and opening them TWICE for a spay surgery and just.. not spaying them?
  • 20
That vet needs to be reported, sued and have their license revoked for life. They have no business practicing veterinary medicine ever again.
  • 21
I hope you speak with a lawyer to start a civil case and discuss options for filing all the official complaints you possibly can!
  • 22
annoyinglover This is... Definitely one of the weirder posts I've seen. Vet school is hard to get into, and it's just... Hard. It's medical. I don't know what is breaking down where... But... My God.

JipsyChick Name them here, name them in your next door app, name them on google, call the board for your state, name them on facebook, insta, on their pages and yours. People that practice veterinary care and then do this kind of them should be handled and shamed appropriately

morris0000007 What a beautiful kittie. Hope she is ok. Please get paperwork from second vet. Report first vet to board.
  • 25
danawl Please post your experience on google reviews for that vet. Mistakes happen, but this is beyond unacceptable. If you can, try to see if the original vet will compensate you for damages.

Take this story to the news. Do what you can, not only for your own sake, but for others. I would worry about other pets having to go through the same experience.
