"People talking during the movie got congratulated by other theater-goers at the end"

Went to the 9:30 pm showing of a pretty mid-movie to be honest. Nobody at my AMC really honors theater etiquette but I've learned to pick my battles. At this movie, though, the four people beside my came late, shining their flashlight in everyone's eyes. I think they were on a double date because throughout the WHOLE movie they whispered incessantly to each other, making exaggerated noises and comments like "NOOO00" and

"why doesn't she just TURN IT OFF." I asked them to stop talking and they said they weren't talking and that I needed to calm down. We were only twenty minutes in so I went to the employees to report it. They came in, told them they needed to stop. As the employees were leaving, the people told me I needed to

"lighten up" and that "dummy, it's an empty theater, sit somewhere else." Throughout the whole rest of the movie the talked nonstop. By the end, they were whooping and hollering. And when the credits rolled, a few rows in front of us two people stood up and called to them: "y'all are fun!" They cheered again, said "thank you, we are, unlike SOME people!"

Genuinely couldn't believe they'd been validated, and it kinda p sed me off more than the fact they ruined the movie.

EmperorMrKitty Heads up, AMC policy is to give you a pass to see a movie another time/day if you let the manager know it's been ruined for you before it's halfway over. Even if you just don't like it lol. They want you to come back and buy popcorn, not decide to rent it at home. It's no big deal as former employee.

whitstableboy This is why I don't go to theatres any more. Every time I go, I have some talking or rustling crisp packets in my ear. Last trip, this guy took a call midway through the film and told me "to lighten up" when I asked him to take the call outside. FFS, this generation of social-media-influenced entitled asshats is ruining everything.

IsaDrennan I've said it before but I've noticed since Co id no one knows how the f to behave anywhere. It's like they all just forgot.

BadDaddyAlger My girlfriend and I went to the theater on Friday and there were maybe three other people and at one point I sort of just forgot myself and said two words slightly louder than I meant to and immediately instinctively shrunk down in my seat. I don't know how people don't get embarrassed.

Noodlebat83 no, I agree thats freaking annoying as h_I. If you wanna hang and chat with your mates a movie in the cinema is not the place. especially with the cost of a ticket these days. Shut the f and watch the movie.

SuperCalibur I just saw a movie on Saturday and was so annoyed by the people that I decided I'm fine with living the rest of my life without ever going to the theater again. Ticket prices are honestly stupid expensive, people are expensively stupid, and there's really nothing I need to see that badly.

titanup001 Yeah, that's society for you. Sadly, the trashy have won. Anytime you are forced to go somewhere and interact with the public, you can just expect some a hole to be there.

Sukayro That s ks. I'm amazed you stayed for the movie. I would have just gotten a refund. Life is too short to subject yourself to ! Luckily I've only had to deal with persistent talkers in a theater once. But it was a terrible movie and eventually turned into a Mystery Science Theater situation where everyone joined in lol

Ok_Memory_1572 It used to be people would say to watch at home if you want to talk during a movie. Now they say to watch at home if you want it to be quiet during a movie. Times are wild these days.
