That phrase is a giant red flag; it just means that her son will grow up with very little guidance and will likely be a handful well into adulthood.

Does she want her son throwing things at other kids? Not correcting this behavior in the moment is how you end up getting calls from preschool about bad behavior.

“Boys will be boys”: 32-year-old mom scolds friend's toddler when she catches him not playing nicely with her daughter, his mom snaps at her for “parenting” her child
I was pretty terrified of small children until my mid-20s when I started working at a preschool. I remember refusing to hold my cousins' babies or play with their toddlers before then because I didn't really know how to handle them. What do you do if they throw a tantrum over nothing, or do something bad and their mom isn't there? I can't say that working with small kids was my favorite thing, but I sure learned a lot from my experience. I know now that kids are just tiny humans that need a little bit of guidance when it comes to navigating this big, scary world.
In our story today, a mom finds that her friend's son isn't playing very nicely with her daughter. Since his mom is busy in that moment, she takes it upon herself to correct his behavior, and the kids continue playing with no further incidents. His mom, however, takes offense to her "parenting" her son without her permission, and even spouts a phrase that will make your eyes roll.
