I (32F) am currently 7 months pregnant and we were told by the doctor that it's going to be a girl, so me and my husband (33M) have been thinking of names until we decided on a name we like, we
  • 03
decided to name her "Audrey" and when I told everyone at the baby shower, one of my sisters told me it was an "outdated name" and that she'd get bu ied for having a name like that (which is funny
  • 04
because she wanted to name her daughter "Ashhliegh" pronounced as "Ashley" before her husband stopped her)

After a while of her making comments about the name we eventually just kicked her out of the shower and I blocked her on all social media's when

she kept messaging me telling me to change the name So Would I Be The Ah le if I name my daughter Audrey?
  • 08
B S Baby - Eninia -Amelia -Sophia -Emily mid -Isabella - Charlotte -Olivia -Scarlett -Madison names
  • 09
ShadowBound13 NTA. Audrey is not a bad name, nor is it outdated. "Ashhliegh"" on the other hand, is a true tragedeigh.
  • 10
Competitive-Reach287 Tell your sister you'll spell it Auhdriegh. She'll get on board.
  • 11
Esmar_Renacette People are always spelling my daughter Oughddrieigh's name that way.
  • 12
Lissa Bryan I imagine your sister is still p ed about being told "Ashhliegh" was stupid and was prepared to criticize any baby name you suggested. NTA
  • 13
GenoFlower Yep, this. NTA. Name your kid what you want to.
  • 14
CriscoWithLime And stop telling others what you plan on naming your children ahead of time. My sister in law (child free) made some smart assed comments about one I wanted and it was enough to turn my husband against it. Wasn't anything crazy.
  • 15
GenoFlower THIS. I'm child free, but if I had kids, I wouldn't tell anyone. The freedom people feel in giving opinions on names would make me unhinged. Keep that to yourself.
  • 16
One of my good friends who has a lot of kids always keeps the name a secret. Makes perfect sense.
  • 17
interrobangda Ding ding ding! This is absolutely the case. The more stories I hear about this kind of thing, the more I understand why expecting parents keep the baby name to themselves until the birth certificate is signed and official.
  • 18
Frosty-Wood Audrey is an elegant name. It's not outdated.
  • 19
Olivia Lily Chloe Amelia Sophie Grace Emily Mia Jessica Ava Ruby Emma
  • 20
Any Blackberry_2261 Audrey Hepburn is such a classic icon. That name will never be outdated!
  • 21
Fight_those_b ds Also, there's two Audrey's in my son's school, one in fourth grade, and one in first grade. So it's not a common name, but it's certainly still "in date."
  • 22
ClaireL58 NTA. Outdated or timeless? The first person I think of when I hear 'Audrey' is Audrey Hepburn... and who wouldn't want to be like Audrey Hepburn?
  • 23
Audrey also feels along the same lines as Emily. I think that's a beautiful name. It's especially awesome that you and your husband agreed on it.
  • 24
I wouldn't take naming advice or put much stock into someone who was going to name her kid a tradgedeigh name. Now THAT would get her kid bu ied or her kids hating the name.
  • 25
A_Blue_Butterffly I'm 17 and I had like over 10 Audrey's at my school, it's not outdated at all
  • 26
SockMaster9273 ΝΤΑ Never take baby naming advice from a woman who can't spell her kids name right.
  • 27
Audrey is not a name I would have gone for but there is unlikely to be another in her class, it's spelled right, and she will find it easier to get a job in 20 years than her cousin will.
  • 28
CantBuyMyLove I disagree with it being uncommon! It probably varies by region, but I am a teacher and have taught at least 6 or 7 Audreys in recent years. It's not quite at Olivia or Sophia levels, but it's more common than Harper or Addie.
