"All for asking where my paycheck was. No apology. No explanation. Just a write-up and a message: don't speak up unless it's convenient for them. The check finally showed up two days after that. Still no acknowledgment that it was late."

My last paycheck was late. Not by a day or two almost a full week. I waited a couple days, thinking maybe it was just a delay. But when nothing came through, I went to my manager and asked about it. Calmly. Just said, "Hey, I haven't been paid yet do you know when it'll go through?" She gave me this look and said, "You don't need to come at me. with that kind of tone." That surprised me, because I wasn't being r de. Just direct. A few hours later, I got called into the office and handed a formal

The reason? "Unprofessional attitude toward management." All for asking where my paycheck was. No apology. No explanation. Just a write-up and a message: don't speak up unless it's convenient for them. The check finally showed up two days after that. Still no acknowledgment that it was late. Honestly, I've worked hard, stayed late, picked up shifts and this is how they respond when I ask to be paid for it? It's not the warning that bothered me most. It's the fact that I started wondering if mayb

shadho Think about lending someone money who's a delinquent. Every time you ask about it, they get offended. In fact, if they ever do respond to you, or even make a partial payment, they act like they're doing you a favor. That's what you're dealing with. Look for a new job, obviously.

virgilreality "I'll sign the write-up right now if you can produce my paycheck right now." Honestly, any place you work at where the checks are late or the checks bounce should be your soon-to-be previous employer.

TheOneCalled Gump Report, report, report. The moment your check wasn't on time, is the moment you should have started a report with the Department of Labor. If you were 10 minutes late to work with no explanation, would your boss give you the benefit of the doubt? I really don't think they would. So, you stop working, make that report, update your resume, and find new employment.

Festernd update your resume. late patchecks are a sign (like 80%+) that the company will fail soon. I'm fortunate that I can do this: The day my paycheck is late, without a legit, verifiable explanation that isn't the companies fault, is the last day i work for them -- I'm already trusting them with an advance of one to two weeks, with how paychecks are processed in the US, the don't get another pay period in advance

Due-CriticismNachos Hot headed me would have spat back, "No. The warning is invalid. You guys are in breach of contract. You can't issue me a warning for your fok up." I learned long ago when a company is getting slow or sloppy in issuing pay that the company is going through something. Could have been a fluke this time. Keep your eyes open to see if other problem crop up. Might be time to abandon ship.
