AITA for grabbing a teenager's phone after he took a picture of me at the gym?

Wow… I would just be so disappointed if this were my son. With a mother like that, it makes sense how he's growing up to be such an entitled kid.

Husband is a pretty big red flag if he seriously thinks that she overreacted…

Teenage boy snaps a photo of 32-year-old woman at the gym, she gets him banned for 6 months despite his mother defending his behavior: 'I saw him laughing with his friends'
For many, going to the gym is a chore, but for others it's a way to unwind and relax by letting off some steam. However, one workout aficionada's natural endorphin high got cut short when she realized that a teenage boy had taken a photo of her without her consent. When she confronted him, he laughed it off as a "joke." The situation quickly spiraled after she reported him to the staff and his mom got involved. Instead of being disturbed at her son's behavior, she immediately took his side and started threatening to sue or get police involved. Don't worry – the kid ended up banned from the gym, but our homegirl was left shaken up and wondering if she really did the right thing.
It can be so, so, so difficult to learn how to be assertive, especially in the moment. When I was younger, I was told to "just ignore it" when someone crossed a boundary. But it doesn't really work that way; boundaries only really exist if you are willing to stand your ground and hold them. Whether you're at the gym, on the street, or anywhere else, standing up for yourself against invasive behavior is absolutely not the wrong thing to do!
