One of the unwritten rules of the cat distribution system is that it does not only apply to us. Yes, cats adopt humans every single day, most likely because we are very easily smitten by them and make really decent servants. But other times, cats choose others as their forever homes, and we are just lucky bystanders. Sometimes, it's a cat adopting another cat. Other times, it's a cat adopting a horse. And sometimes, it's the relationship that people expect the least. Arch nemisis. Sometimes, cats adopt dogs. 

Or dogs adopt cats, same difference. But it does happen. All their differences get set aside, all the drama between the species becomes irrelevant, and the only thing that matters is the chemistry between the two - the instant bond that they feel. When it happens, there is no arguing with it. The love is true. The bond is real. And you, as the human of the adopter, have to adopt the other one of the pair as well. And you do. And you love it.

    Almost two months ago, my husky wouldn't come in when I called her. I looked around, and realized she was just sunbathing in a corner on the deck as she does. Went out to wake her up to bring her in, but she just still wouldn't come. Then suddenly I heard some meows, and there was a tiny baby kitten just on the railing above my dog!

    She was very injured. Scabbed up face and a pretty serious looking eye injury plus more hidden in her fur. Took her to the vet as soon as they had availability and got her shots and antibiotics. Considering our location in the middle of nowhere and her injuries, it was likely a bird of prey brought this little girl to our property.

    Today, she has a clean bill of health! She still and may always have an abses in her eye(because of a puncture wound. Ouch), but it's healthy, and not a concern, but something to always watch.

    We didn't really have extra funds for a surprise kitten, but it was worth it. Never knew I would tell people a cat is my Husky's and not mine! They cuddle and play and it's adorable. <3

  • If any of you know anything about huskies, is that these little guys and gals are stubborn. Once they set their mind to something, once they want something, it is nearly impawssible to change their mind. And this guy clearly had his mind set on one thing, and he wasn't leaving until he got it.

    She has a pink tail because people suck, basically. Everybody and their cousin likes to tell us our husky "looks like a Coyote". And it's hunting season. We live in the countryside, and although we have 3 acres of fenced yard for our dogs, accidents do happen and they could get out. We actually took our dogs for a walk during hunting season two years ago (we like to walk in the forest), and someone shot(very illegally. It's a long story but they got four charges in federal court) at us and kille

    MosslsEverything OP That's a good idea! I should frame it! I hope CDS doesn't send my husky any more cat's. This one makes five and we really didn't want five cats, but we couldn't say no to the special bond they formed.

  • Some things are worth framing, and this is definitely one of them. The first cuddles, or at least one of the first, as far as we know - that is definitely worth remembering. But don't worry, even if you don't frame that one, we're sure you'll get many more snapshots of them doing this over the years.

    MosslsEverything OP Me too. An adorable bond I didn't even know I needed! All our dogs love our cats and they all play well, but this kitten is extra special to our pup. She found her specially and only cuddles this kitten and not the rest of the cats.

    MosslsEverything OP I'm always so surprised by baby animal's abilities to heal. Veracious little creatures. Especially this one! She gets really affectionate then will suddenly bite you in the neck! Specifically the neck. Never had another cat do this, but biscuit does lol
