"HR from my previous job threatened me...Five months after I resigned"

This morning I woke up to an email that made me laugh, but it also made me sort of angry.

Little background story to help you understand my situation: Back in May, I got hired in a company that had a deal with a government agency.

This agency encourages youth employment where employers don't pay taxes on their employees for the first 12 months.

I'm sure there may be other benefits. The contract I was given said I could quit at any given moment without consequence and vice versa, my employer can say byebye anytime.

I ended up working only one month for them, because I found out they didn't raise salaries as they promised to a lot of their employees.

So I quit because I was basically working minimum wage in a creative role. I sent them my resignation through email and they said their farewell to me.

They didn't request anything of me. Five months later (today), I woke up to an email where HR requested a legalized resignation document in less than a week (four days to be exact), or else they threatened to take 'legal disciplanary' action towards me, basically saying I'll be breaking laws related to work.

Last time I checked, it's illegal to create these documents five months later, lol. This sounds very suspicious, maybe this email would've been understandable if it was sent immediately after my resignation, not nearly a half year later.

It's also funny coming from a company who pays their marketing team ~200$ per month. Personally, I think HR messed up and instead of reaching out politely, she decided to go the blackmail route.

I even have more sinister theories. What do you think?

meagainp sy "Hi Brenda, I would like to help you out, but I have not received my paycheck in 5 months despite you telling me how valued I am and I can just work from home from now on instead of resigning. Can you please check on that first? I would like to clarify this had nothing to do with you repeatedly touching my derriere. I am over it and would never take any related action. Thanks!"

Confident-Apricot325 Btw: I previously sent my resignation letter through email. Please review and contact your IT department to recover. Otherwise, if you need another copy, I can send it to you but I would require $5000 as I need to pull it out of my archive. I can send you a form to request an official copy. Sincerely, not your employee anymore.

msqmq7 My dark little brain went directly to the company has been scamming that program since you left with the tax exemptions. Now that the end of the year is coming, they need a new resignation letter to be able to skate without getting caught. I would contact the organization and inquire if you are still shown as employed by said company

nuclearmonte lol this is because they kept you on the payroll all this time to get more money from the government and now some auditor caught them. Don't respond. It's their problem.

Comfortable_Price908 This is exactly what I'm thinking. I sent my resignation months ago, my bank statement proves it. They specifically said in their email that if I don't send a legalized copy of my resignation in three days, they will accuse me of 'abandoning my post' and will take 'legal disciplinary action' against me. While reflecting on this situation, I remembered an additional suspicious detail. The company had nearly 50 employees (or more), many SUCKED at their jobs, they would barely
