The “Smash or Pass” trend going viral on TikTok right now is all fun and games. It started with two girls and a photo of a character from Peppa the Pig—one of the girls thought they were playing smash or pass so she said “smash” and the laughs ensued.

Now trending, this version of Hot or Not keeps getting into hotter and hotter water. Recently, one TikTok user jokingly used the sound as if recruiters use the business connection site LinkedIn as a way to rate people's hotness. The joke is either hitting it right in the spot for some or, for others, being extremely inappropriate. She's basically suggesting that people get hired because the recruiters think they're hot.

It's sparked quite the debate within the comments. There are women coming in saying they don't appreciate being sexualize in a professional environment. There are also men coming in saying the double standards here is ridiculous. However, there are others who find the joke hilarious and some viewers in search of a job are even flocking to the comment section to get the attention of real-life recruiters.

Is it inappropriate or funny?
