“I’m a cat sitter, my client gave me their cat”
“I started sitting this little kitten only about 2 weeks after he was brought home back in September of last year. He’s a sweet little ragdoll, and we had the best time playing. Plus, he slept cuddled up so close to me, it was extremely sweet. He quickly became one of my favorites, and we spent a lot of time together. His family traveled a ton, so I was caring for him at least 1 week every month, often more."

“Around the beginning of February, I got a call from the client asking if I wanted to adopt him, since we get on so well. She said they travel too much and even when they’re home, they really don’t have time for him. I live alone and, as a pet sitter, I’m away very frequently. So I was aware I couldn’t keep him long term but agreed to foster him. They were going to sell him, which worried me and broke my heart since I love him so much. Once I got the okay from my landlord, I brought him home.”

“When I had to go do house sitting a few weeks later, my boyfriend stayed at my place to care for him. They bonded so much over this time, which made me super happy. I semi jokingly suggested he should take him previously, but he has never had a cat so he was unsure. But after they bonded, he asked what I thought of him adopting the cat and I was ecstatic!!! he wfh so it’s a great situation for them both.”

“Now it’s a few months later, kitty is settled and so SO happy. I’m there very often and he’s always happy to see me. He sleeps with us when we’re lucky, but he’s a bit less cuddly in his adolescence haha. He loves balcony time, sleeping on the windowsill, watching papa work, and climbing behind the warm computer monitors to nap. He also loves to eat plastic but we try to stop him doing that - he has definitely settled into the ragdoll personality and gotten more lazy with age. But we still play with him a lot to keep him active! Right now he’s shedding his winter coat so it’s tumbleweed city 😭”

“His birth name was Kenji, his last family called him Gatsby. But now, in his true forever home, he is called Chicken Babyson"

The hardest part of being a cat sitter must be getting attached to the cats you care for, only to have to leave them and come home every time. For us, that would be nearly unbearable. We get attached to stray cats we see once on the street, so cuddling and caring for a fluffy feline for days on end, and then having to pack up and go home once their pawrents come back, sounds purrfectly awful. It's the same reason why we can't foster cats, as much as we know how much good it would do.

That is one meowjestic floof! We're happy that this story has a happy ending, because not many cats get one as purrfect as this. For the kitten to bond with the cat sitter's boyfriend is the best outcome, because now she gets to spend time with him whenever they're together, and the kitten has a purrmanent home with a pawrent who loves him. It makes our hearts all warm and fuzzy!
