Guest reserved two hotel rooms and then got mad when front desk employee explained she had, in fact, two rooms that she had to pay for, she's blaming the employee: 'Why didn’t you call me and ask if I really needed the second room?'

10:30 p.m. My shift is almost over, and of course there's no proper shift ending without troubles. A lady comes to check in. According to the system, she has two reservations under her name. So I ask: "Would you like to use the same credit card for both rooms?" She gives me a Pikachu face. "What second room? I only booked one room for me and my husband."

I double-check everything. The reservations were made through Suxpedia. They're not prepaid, but there are definitely two separate reservations under her name using her card. I explain that it's already past the cancellation deadline, we've been holding both rooms all night expecting her party to arrive, and unfortunately one night's room charge will apply for the duplicate reservation. She can later contact Suxpedia support if there was a
glitch on their end. That's when things get crazy. Guest: "But why would you even hold two rooms for me? It's just me!" Me: "Because it's actually normal for guests to book multiple rooms under the same name for family or friends." Guest: "Well, that's your fault. Why didn't you call me and ask if
I really needed the second room?" I politely explained again that multiple reservations under one name is not rare, so we had no reason to assume one of them was a mistake. She walked away still convinced it was somehow my fault. Yeah, right, since when I required to read your mind Karen?

Arcanorumxox The critical thinking on her behalf was non existent. Has she never booked a room for a parent or a friend on a trip together? I am also assuming she got double booking confirmation and simply chose to ignore it.
SinfulWoodcock How would that phone call even go? "Hi, I noticed you booked 2 rooms. Did you need 2 rooms?" ".....Yes." "Okay bye"
Aervanath I'm going to bet that instead of booking 1 room for 2 adults, she booked 2 rooms for 1 adult each. Because reading comprehension is hard.
Spirited_Refuse9265 We had a guest recently who had 16 i think it was...11 through suxpedia and 5 through crappybeds 6 of them non refundable. I'm sure you can guess how many they actually needed... and whose fault it was that they had so many reservations
Eta: of course no contact information to be able to contact the guest to confirm and it was on a site that didn't support messaging through suxpedia
ChaiTeaLeah Call to check that she needed two rooms? I used to work in a pharmacy. They started pushing us to call customers who'd presumably be running out of their prescriptions (example: you got a 90 day supply 80 days ago, would you like us to process the next refill for you?)
Most often you'd get hit with some version of "do you think I'm an idiot? I'll let you know when I need it." Then again, others would come in, already late for a refill, then find out that that had been their last refill. Why oh why didn't we call the doctor on their behalf? You can't really win.
Paganduck I once ordered 2 shirts from a catalog as Christmas gifts for twins. Only one arrived and when I called they said they thought it. was a mistake and canceled 1 for me. I would be furious if I reserved 2 rooms and they canceled 1.
MrStormChaser "Ma'am, I can't accept responsibility because I'm not the one who booked the rooms. I'd suggest looking in BOTH mirrors if you're looking for someone to blame."
spareloo I bet her husband secretly booked it to get one night of peace for himself.
City_Girl_at_heart Did she not check her confirmation email which tells her how many rooms she booked? Or notice 2 separate emails for the same hotel? She would have had ample time to fix this with sux before the day of the booking.
