We all use the strategies we can to obtain what we want. In a world where money doesn't grow on trees, it seems that some people are willing to push logic to its very edges to feel like they're entitled to something.

This sister-in-law didn't waste a second of her time debating whether she was in the wrong; she knew it was ridiculous from the start, but hey, she got to experience her present for ten long years, right?

    Waaaay back in 2012 my FIL won a Kindle Reader at work. He asked my SIL if she wanted it. She declined. He called me next and I accepted right away.

    I filled that little guy UP. Books I'd read, wanted to read, had heard of, heard were so bad you had to read em etc. I was on the high seas those days so 99% of my books were...ill gotten.

  • I’m a big reader myself, but I never had a Kindle, even though everywhere I look someone is listing their amazing qualities. After reading this and seeing my long list of expensive books I want to read asap, I said ok, I’m going to buy one. Guys, the price was not what I expected. I thought they were much cheaper! I get it, you spend that money once, and then you get all the books you want practically for free. Money-wise, that’s okay, but what about the experience of having a big, colourful library? What about seeing all the books you have piled up and picking up one, out of sheer inspiration, one boring Sunday evening? What about going crazy researching some random topic and putting all the books you have about it on top of the table and reading, highlighting them, and taking notes like a maniac? I don’t know; I think I will accept that I won’t have all the books I want at once, and I will keep building my analog library.

    I'm pretty sure he was suggesting I break the f and drop it off at her door. We just plugged it in and restored it to factory settings. Wiped it clean and made it just like it was built.

  • I like that the father-in-law is on the sister-in-law’s side. I guess he suggested that because there is no way to stop his own daughter’s will. This is a mildly infuriating, petty revenge, but she got what she wanted so desperately for ten years in the end, right?
