Woman Tries to Expose Abusive Doggy Daycare, Gets Kidnapped and Threatened, Seeks Justice

TikTok user Amarie Halley, aka @lifeandworkbutbetter, dedicates her profile to helping her viewers get out of toxic work environments. Her viral videos shares red flags to keep an eye out for at work, how to approach inappropriate work situations, relatable work moments, helpful job searching advice, and many other tips to navigate within this capitalistic society. Recently, she shared a personal story of her own experience with a horrible boss, and it is on an entirely different level.

The three part “storytime” TikTok starts with her saying, “puppies and kidnapping—what do they have in common?” She then reveals a Mafia-level story about working at a doggy daycare that was not only abusive to its employees, but also to the dogs that boarded with them. She goes through coverups, bribes, lies, and eventually kidnapping. Though the story is riveting, it leaves viewers heartbroken at the end, because no justice was ever brought to the situation.

Part I

The story begins with Halley starting a job at a doggy daycare after moving. The owners seemed nice and “warned” her about the groomer, telling her not to get close to her. She eventually finds out, however, that the groomer is actually very nice and only there because of her contract. The groomer told her tons of horror stories of the owners and the business. Halley also found out that the business didn't want to hire anyone to stay and watch the dogs all day, so they would simply put the dogs in cages until they were picked up. The bosses would have someone just come out and grab the dogs and put them in the play area once the owners were on their way, to make it look like they've been playing all day.

Part II

Halley also says that they would make fake vaccination reports for the dogs, putting all the other dogs in danger. Give dogs medicines meant for humans and not tell the owners when the dogs got sick. They paid all the employees under the table, leaving no trace of the money comings and goings. They also never reported employee injuries and one time they even gave one of their employees, who got bitten pretty badly, fish antibiotics, instead of taking her to the doctor.

The story is already insane enough, but it just keeps unraveling and getting crazier and crazier.

Halley says that she started taking photos on her phone for evidence and was going to take them down. She tried already reporting them to the police and animal control, but apparently, the owners somehow had them “in their back pockets.” Some real conspiracy sh*t.

Part III

Eventually, the owners found out what she was trying to do. One day, they offered her a ride home after a meeting, but instead, locked her in the car, stole her phone, shook her up, threatened her, threatened her husband's job, and tossed her out by her apartment. Allegedly, they threw a wad of cash at her and said “good luck applying for unemployment, because you have no proof that you ever worked here.”

And that's the dang end. Halley says she doesn't live in that city anymore, but really did try to get them shutdown, but there was something nefarious at play. Justice was never brought to this abusive doggy daycare and they're still up and running today. She never says where this is or the name of the establishment, but after such a scary experience with no positive outcome, who can blame her.
