New Viral TikTok Trend Has Dog-Owners Sharing Silly Songs They Make Up for Their Pets

Sometimes when you love something so much it makes you want to sing. Especially, when that someone you're singing too is a cute little animal like a sweet pup that you love unconditionally. Those cutie little creatures don't care if you hit the right notes, they feel the love within your melody no matter how off-beat you are.

Recently, someone posted a TikTok sharing the song they made up for their dog and asking viewers to share their own. Now, the newest trend going viral for TikTokers has them stitching their responses making so many Grammy-worthy pet-versions of chart-toppers. Some are originals, but many are simply popular songs with the words exchanged to fit their beloved pet. Many happy dogs eagerly wagging their tales to a (usually off-key) rendition of songs like Tom Petty's “Free Fallin',” Michael Jackson's “Bad," or even Barry Manilow's hit “Copacabana."

The original TikTok came from the creator Joe Dombrowski, aka @mrdtimes3, who is a professional teacher and comedian. This isn't his first time going viral, many of this videos tend to get well over 10k views or even into the millions. His standup has a lot to do with his experience as a teacher and the comical situations he experiences. He also posts lots of videos of his cute little Labrador puppy, including this most recent video going viral/ also creating the trend.

The song he uses to make about his adorable little ball of fur pup is actually a religious one. He changes the word “god” from Kirk Franklin's “(He Reigns) Our God Is An Awesome God" to the word “dog," and it fits beautifully. Tell me you were a church kid, without telling me you were a church kid…

Others get more hip, and convert songs that will forever be classic songs in pop culture, some may even say pivotal, to be about their dog.

Michael Jackson has definitely been canceled, but if all his songs were remade to be about dogs? Instant new hits.

Barry Manilow would probably be proud of this doggy remix of his very popular “Copacabana.”

Honestly, it's surprising that Tom Petty didn't think of changing his hit “Free Fallin'” to be about dogs already.

This lil chihuahua is definitely Fergalicious—Fergie has some serious competition.

Bonnie Tyler's “Total Eclipse of the Heart" is already a dramatic banger, but add a puppy into the epic story of the song? Yes please.

The trend is snowballing and adding new musical dog moms and dads to the viral sensation regularly. Currently, it seems millennial TikTokers have a hold of the trend, but once the Gen-Z crowd get a hold of it, don't be surprised if you start hearing dog versions of songs like Cardi B's “WAP” or Lil Nas X's “Montero.” Can you imagine “WAP” being sung to a dog getting a bath: “That's some Wet a** puppy.” Or “Monetero" being sung from the POV of a dog who just mastered recall training: “call me when you want, call me when you need…"

What a wholesome TikTok trend, the Grammy's really should pick it up and make it its own award section.
