TikTok trends come and go, but some continue on forever. For example, TikToker @christy_lats started a trend last year asking what was the biggest lie an adult has ever told you and it's still getting responses today. Parents tell their kids little white lies constantly. It could be out of boredom, necessity, pure frustration or anything really. Kids just don't listen, so sometimes you have to say something a little bit spicier to get it through their heads. Many can relate to the original video of this trend saying her parents convinced her that it was illegal to turn on the inside light in the car.
Lie: Illegal to turn the inside car light on (original)
So many people can relate to this trend, especially millennials. They were all told you have to get a college degree to get a job, or you'll never have a calculator just in your pocket so you have to memorize equations. Ha! What a lie.
Lie: College graduates do better in life
Lie: “You'll understand when you're older”
Lie: “You're not just gonna have a calculator in your pocket in the real world”
Lie: “Sound it out to help you spell it”
Some of these ridiculous lies were harmless, but some really stuck. Have you ever accidentally swallowed your gum growing up and then you think it'll be inside of you for 7 years? Or if you eat a watermelon seed you'll start growing a watermelon inside of you??
Lie: lbs stands for “Loose Booty Syndrome”
Lie: Your GPA matters
Lie: A watermelon will grow inside of you if you eat the seed
Lie: Adults only write in cursive
As we get older, these lies become very clearly lies. Once you get older you realize “you'll understand when you're older” didn't literally mean once you're older you'll understand, it really just meant the adults didn't feel like or know how to explain it to you. Kids will believe anything.
Lie: If you smoke weed, you will sh*t you pants
Lie: Carrots will give you night vision
