Waitress Shares Viral Stories of the Most Insane Serving Experiences While Working in a Restaurant

Anyone who has worked in the service industry has a story of their own. Customers, bosses, co-workers, etc. all in one stressful, fast-paced environment, where the employees are definitely not getting paid enough is a recipe for disaster.

TikToker Emely, aka @emelywithane_, has worked in multiple restaurants as a waitress for many years. When it comes to insane stories of her time in the service industry, she could write a book. Instead, she shares them passionately on her TikTok and goes viral. Her followers are captivated by her intense recounts of situations where the things that go down are just absurd. People trying to steal her tips, finding herself in the middle of awkward dates, etc.—it just never seems to end. 

Man pretends to be rich for date, tips on $20 on a $600 bill:

In one story she shares, she had just gotten off a shit where she had a table on a date where the man was talking about how rich he was. The entire date she overhears him talking about how he has tons of money, and is going to take care of the girl with him and she doesn't have to worry about a thing. He then proceeds to order $600 worth of menu items without batting an eye. Emely thinks she's got the jackpot and is about to make some good tip money, but when it comes time to pick up the bill she sees he's only left her $20 for tip—that is less than 4%. 

As anyone who has been a server before, you can't really fight any of your customers on the amount of tip they leave you, so many times you just have to hold in the screams of frustration. However, the woman this man was on a date with wasn't having it. She pointed out that $20 was not enough for a tip, and when he refused to leave more, the woman got up, apologized to Emely, gave her an extra $50, and left the man in the restaurant—an epic and amazing ending.

Another time a group of teenagers tried to steal her $20 tip and Emely was not having it. As the group of kids were plotting their theft, they didn't notice Emely was by them listening in. She watches as one of the teenage girls goes, grabs the $20 tip of off the neighboring table, and puts it in her purse. Emely instantly grabs her and calls her out. Though they tried their hardest to deny it, she threatened to fit the teenager and eventually they gave in and returned her money.
