New Health Foodie Craze "Lettuce Chips" is Being Exposed by TikTokers as Just a Salad

Diet trends come and go, but always gather a huge following while doing so. People desperate to be healthy will try anything. Sometimes it's great and delicious. Other times it's absolutely not healthy at all and was created by someone who was definitely not a professional dietician. And, i'd say most of the time, it's someone just rebranding a very common healthy meal. That's what's happening this time around for this potato chip replacement snack.

It's called “Lettuce Chips” and it's blowing up on TikTok. Started by Amal Awad aka @amalawadfit, she says she created this healthy alternative snack because she's always wanting to eat something crunchy while watching a movie, and she tends to go for the greasy potato chips.

Amal Awad's “Lettuce Chips”:

The thing is, the snack is simply eating a plain salad with your hands… She takes roman lettuce, breaks it up into small pieces, then adds vinegar, lemon juice, and salt. It's strange, because not only is that very obviously a salad to even the untrained health eye, it's always Awad's only video on her profile.

The viral video has over 300k views and in Awad's bio it says she's all about the healthy plant based recipes. I mean, “lettuce chips” is technically a health plant based recipe. Many healthy foodie TikTokers are in love with the recipe.

It's not a salad, it's lettuce chips…

“I've never craved lettuce so much”

The people posting serious reviews of it is truly mind-boggling. They can't be for real, right? It's so obviously a salad… These people on TikTok seem very excited about the recipe, recreating it and talking about how great this will be as a healthy snack. Some swear that it truly helped them phase out greasy potato chips in their life.

But many TikTokers are seeing right through it (because, honestly, how can you not??). People are stitching it or reposting the recipe calling out the truth—that it's just a basic AF salad. Even TikTokers who are a professional dietician on the app are putting their two cents in, saying it's healthy, but it is a salad.

…a salad?

Stop the trend

You're done.

“Her vid is satire, right? Please say it is because she looks insane twisting that lettuce,” on commenter said. Another person responded, “It has to be right???? But this is a real TikTok trend…”

So everyone seems equally as confused about this new health food craze. It is literally just a salad. How could anyone say lightly seasoned romance lettuce can replace potato chips?? TikTok is a strange confusing place.

Disappointed
