I'm not going to sit here and pretend like I know a thing about the video game Rust. I love multiplayer survival, but I honestly just found out about Rust only recently after going down the rabbit-hole of "Oil Rig Tok."
That's right, there is a whole sub-culture of actual righands who work on oil rigs in the middle of the ocean sharing viral content on TikTok. See the all-encompassing dark abysses at night then endure and the unforgiving ocean with breathtaking views during the day the enjoy. The job seems to be as dangerous as it is fulfilling, but it's the video game Rust that's now making Oil Rigs a trending topic.
Oil Rig Tok is a ~thing~
Different Rust Players Going to Oil Rig:
Rust is a multi-player only game that's sole objective is to survive in the wilderness using gathered or stolen materials. It was initially released in 2013, but wasn't fully released until 2018. The console versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (developed in conjunction with Double Eleven) were released just last May. As of last week, the new Rust Console Edition Patch 1.30 became available on both platforms, giving more players access to the difficult oil rig level.
New Strategy for Oil Rig
When you first Google tips on Rust's Oil Rig, it tells you to the basic strategies of how to approach it, like a boat, flying, etc.—kinda boring if you ask me. However, TikTokers who game Rust are providing more exciting techniques to approach the level. Who new an oil rig could be so fun in a video game?

Bring Tons of Meds
Again, I'm not going to pretend like I know anything about Rust and try to provide further explanation of these techniques and if they're any good. But these TikTok gamers are definitely persuading me to throw out Elden Ring and Cyberpunk for Rust. (Well, maybe not throw them out, but I definitely want to get my grubby gamer hands on Rust's Oil Rig).
