Woman Helps a Mama Raccoon Out, Ends Up Becoming a Daycare for all the Baby Raccoons in Her Neighborhood

Raccoons are wild mammals that run the streets here in the U.S. They're better known as “trash pandas” for their frequent dinner outings in people's trash, but also due to their black and white fur and adorable exterior. Don't be fool, though. These wild animals can be quite vicious, especially if it's a mama raccoon trying to keep her babies safe. So even though this TikToker was able to get on the good side of these mama raccoons, I would not suggest doing this yourself. 

Tiktoker @marpleskee was in her backyard one day when a mother raccoon wondered into her yard looking exhausted and about ready to give up. The woman couldn't stand to see this innocent creature in this state, so she brought out a little bit of food and water for the mama and let her rest, while she also provided some enrichment activities for the raccoons (usually just putting the running hose out for them to play with). The mama raccoon was so grateful that she started coming more often with her babies for a little break in her motherly duties. After a while, the TikToker started to notice new mama Raccoons coming for a visit with their babies. The TikToker soon realizes her backyard had become the local raccoon daycare spot—and she could not be more thrilled about it. 

Raccoon Daycare Origin Story

It's adorable to see how the mama raccoons are with their babies. Usually what happens is the mama raccoon comes, drops the kids off, and stays near by, but just far enough that the kids can't really tell where she is. So the mama can keep an eye on them, but also rest. The TikToker even caught one mama actively hiding from her babies so she could snack in peace. So many viewers related hard to this, being moms themselves—they too take moments to hide from their kids and snack in peace. What mom hasn't had a moment were she wants a cookie before dinner, but doesn't want her kids to think that's ok, so hides somewhere to eat it really quickly? Every mom has done something like that, even raccoon moms.
