Farmer Goes Viral for Giving Hilarious "Woke" Farming Tips

What's a silly little social media app if you can't laugh at dumb things? Midwestern farmer Haley Kales is going viral on TikTok for many funny farming jokes, but the biggest hit is her poking fun at the whole being “woke” culture. She is a small independent farmer and nurse, so she's basically already a woke farmer when it comes down to it. As long as you're not abusing your workers or animals, that's a woke farmer. But what her comedy series plays on is the other parts of woke-ism. Trigger warning: Those who struggle with people who refuse to take their gender identity seriously or are beaten down for having to fight the patriarchy every day, etc., this might not find funny to you, and that's understandable. But you have to remember, we're talking about chickens and goats here—ones that look like they get treated pretty darn well too.

For those who can laugh at themselves and at the absurdity of our society, then this kind of humor is for you! (And if you like farm animals, especially chickens, that's a plus.)

Woke Farming Tip pt. 1

How can you tell if your chicken is a rooster or a hen? Respectfully as possible! You ask them.

Woke Farming Tip pt. 2

You don't call pregnant goats bred does anymore, oh no. They are called “birthing ruminants," to make them feel more inclusive.

Woke Farming Tip pt. 3

It's not called “nursing” when talking about where kids will get their milk from their birthing ruminants. It's now called “fromunda feeding.”

Woke Faring Tip pt. 4

A great tip is to admit failure. For example, you can't just label your hens and roosters without first asking what their gender is.

Thems, Not Hens

Other woke farmers are also starting to contribute to the funny trend and give their own tips on how to be a woke farmer. This guy says he doesn't call his hens “hens," that's too gendered. He calls them “thems.”
