Field Ecologist Rescues Sick Abandoned Cat That Crawled Up to Her While She was Bird Surveying

TikToker @whatthefrogdoin716 is a professional ecologist and self-proclaimed bog witch. Her TikTok videos usually circle around science and the environment, but recently she's been thrusted into the cat side of TikTok. Recently, she was working in the field surveying birds when she set down her clip board. When she looked back down at it, a small orange cat had perked himself on top of it. The video is a funny stare down between the two, but what the viewers really wanted to know is if she helped the cat at all. 

Being a bog witch and lover of all animals, of course she rescued the cat! When he approached her, even people without any sort of connection with animals can see this cat was looking for help. His fur was dirty, his eyes looked puffy, and his fascial expression seemed sad and hungry.

The video got well over 3 million views and over 6k comments—many of which are asking her what she did with the kitty. Luckily, only a couple of days after posting the original video, the TikToker posted an update on the little guy. She took him home after finding him in the field, or should I say, after he found her in the field. She immediately took him to the vet where he was found to have an ear infection, respiratory infection, possible bone fractures, and he was severely dehydrated. The vet bill, unfortunately, was extremely high for this little guy. So his rescuer went on TikTok to ask for help. He got millions of views before, surely his fans on the app would want to help.

And indeed they did! This little guy got his vet bills all covered by his adoring fans on TikTok and he is not living his best life with his scientist mom. She says he still has a long way to go healing, but he is making great progress and she is there helping him each step of the way. TikTokers are congratulating her for becoming a cat mom. “This is how you become a cat owner, congrats,” one viewer commented since the cat chose her and not the other way around. The little guy went from hardly being able to walk, to walking over to mom for cuddles. 

One day she was just going to work, and then magically she was chosen to become a new cat mom. Life can be beautiful sometimes.
