Does having a baby warrant a disinvite to where everyone else is staying for the wedding?
Figuring out who to invite to a wedding is already stressful enough, but a destination wedding complicates things even more. It's not cheap to have a wedding, especially one outside of the country. Usually, if you're deciding to have a destination wedding, it's courtesy to pay for the lodging of your wedding party. You're already making them take off work and pay for a flight, so the least you can do is pay for where they're staying for your wedding.
TikToker Justine Morris has been posting about the planning process of her destination wedding in France. She's actually even posted a video about why it ended up being cheaper than what she was thinking about having in the U.S. She's having the wedding at a Chateau in France. The couple offered to house some of the guest for the wedding and that includes the entire wedding party, like the groomsmen and bridesmaids. However, Morris was recently given the news that one of her bridesmaids is pregnant, which means she will have a one year old baby by the time of their wedding.
The bride says she's obviously excited for her friend's pregnancy news, but now she has a dilemma. The wedding will be a year after she gives birth, which means the bridesmaid will have a 1-year-old by then. It's not that a child-free wedding, so the baby is absolutely welcomed to the actual wedding part of their getaway. But, the wedding party staying at the Chateau are all childless people in their twenties, and she just thinks that it might not be an ideal place for a 1-year-old. So she asks, is it ok to disinvite her on those grounds?
The viewers' comments to the video seem like mixed reviews. Many of the moms responding to the TikToker saying she wants to disinvite the pregnant bridesmaid are saying they would be so hurt and end the friendship. However, many other moms are saying that it's totally understandable and it was their choice to have kids, not your friends.
Morris responds to many of the viewers comments and eventually says she had a discussion with her bridesmaid and worked things out. The soon-to-be mama is totally fine with staying somewhere else near by and is just excited to have a free week-stay in France with all of her friends. Still, the video has got a lot of people debating on whether this was a dick move or not…
