Store Security Guard Goes Viral For Offering Umbrella To a Wet Dog Caught In The Rain

It's the little things that help to lift our spirits and set the most wonderful examples to us all.

Take Ethan Dearman, who works as a security guard at British supermarket "Morrisons", for example.

The big-hearted man took pity on a golden retriever who had been tied in a pole outside while his owner went shopping. As the rain came down, Ethan opened his big umbrella and offered the wet pooch some shelter.

His selfless act was caught on camera and went viral, attracting more than 140,000 reactions from people praising the security guard for his kind actions.

Morrisons retweeted the picture on to their own social media and added: "It's going to be a wet week so we've issued nine thousand Morrisons umbrellas to keep our customers – and their dogs – dry. It's good to see that it is already happening in our Giffnock store."

The security guard replied: "I didn't think I'd go viral on twitter like this. I knew I was making people smile but this is something else entirely, lol." Many asked why the dog was tied up in the rain in the first place to which Ethan explained: "It wasn't raining when he was tied there and since I can't move another's dog I thought using an umbrella would be a good compromise."

We need more people like Ethan in our world.

UK Dogs Are Being Trained To Detect The Virus In Passengers Arriving At Airports

The Medical Detection Dogs is a British charity set up in 2008 to use dogs' sharp sense of smell to detect human diseases like cancers, Parkinson's disease, and other bacterial infections using samples taken from patients.

Last month, they started working on a new project in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and Durham University in northeast England - training dogs to sniff out samples of the virus, and indicate when they have found it to receive a treat. The approach is based on a belief that each disease triggers a distinct odor, which canines are uniquely well-placed to smell.

Funny Thread About Herd Of Goats Having a Midnight Feast In an Empty UK Pub During Lockdown

Manchester Evening News' @AndrewStuart saw a herd of goats overrunning the township of Llandudno in the north of Wales.

He was worried that he had gotten the goats arrested after spotting them having a midnight feast from a pub window

Little did Andrew know, that night was just the beginning for these wild goats.

Sixteen Of Our Favorite 'Doctor Who' Moments

Doctor Who certainly has a cult-like following by this point, and it's not hard to see why. The show is supposedly meant for children, which leads us to believe that English children are just far superior in the intelligence department than the rest of us.

Who's your favorite Doctor? Ours has got to be David Tenant.

The Winners Of The 2019 "Bad Sex" Award For The Worst Sexual Description In Novels

Every year, the British publication Literary Review presents an award for Bad Sex in Fiction. Established in 1993 by the Literary Review editor, Auberon Waugh, and critic Rhoda Koenig, the award is given to high-profile literary novelists in an attempt to take them down a peg, really, though its purported mission is to "draw attention to poorly written, perfunctory or redundant passages of sexual description in modern fiction."

French author, Didier Decoin and John Harvey, a life fellow at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, were both announced as winners of the 2019 "Britain's most dreaded literary prize" after the judges struggled to pick just one winner.

This is the first time either author has won the prize. In a statement announcing the result on Monday night, the judges said: "Faced with two unpalatable contenders, we found ourselves unable to choose between them. We believe the British public will recognize our plight as we were unable to choose even after hours of tortuous debate".

One more fact worth noticing is that this hilariously bizarre award has been dominated by male novelists over the years and only three women have won in 26 years. We can only wonder why...

We have handpicked for you the most awful sexual scenes written in the last few years, including the two winning scenes of 2019.

Queen Elizabeth Has Not Passed Away, Despite Memes Circulating The Internet

It's that time of year again where someone on the internet starts a rumor about Queen Elizabeth II's death. Last year, a troll-y Redditor created a meme predicting the her death would occur on January 5th of this year.

This year the rumor was fabricated by a WhatsApp group claiming that she had passed away due to a heart attack on December 1st.

We just want to make it clear that no, the queen is not dead, but of course that hasn't stopped people from making memes about it.

No, the keys didn't get stuck and the editor doesn't have a degenerative nerve disease, that's the name of the town. And this weather guy Liam Dutton pronounces is perfectly. You can tell by the look on his face when he says it that he's bringing the heat.
