Mom with Identical Twins Spells Out How Difficult it is to Make Sure They Don't get Mixed Up

Imagine giving birth to two perfectly identical twins. A lot of us dream about it. It's always exciting to see them out in the wild, two people who share 100% of the same genes. What are the odds? (If you're actually curious according to NHS it's about 1 in 250)

But something that people don't really think about when dreaming about raising two adorable clones is how hard it can be to tell them apart. I mean, it's not like they have any idea who they are until a certain age. How easy would it be to accidentally swap them around in the early days? Or worse, what if a babysitter does it and they go their whole lives thinking they are the opposite twin.

It's to say whether this would really even impact them very much because at the end of the day it's just a name, but obviously, as a parent, it feels like the bare minimum is being able to tell between your children, even if they are identical - if anything at least for consistency reasons.

TikTok content creator @thefoxsaystwins posted a funny video on the platform showing how sometimes even they need to take a second glance to know which twin is which. Which, after looking at them, is not surprising at all.

Let's watch together.

Initial Video

The video is hilariously captioned, “You'd think we'd know after 2.5 years 🤦🏽‍♀️” and has over 25.8 million views. People were so amused at the “Who are you?" comment. As were we.

Then another user commented:

Sometimes I wonder how many identical twin parents accidentally switched their children once or twice before their kids could tell them who they were.

And this comment was so important that it got a full-on video response from @thefoxsaystwins.

How To Tell Your Twins Apart

And from this point on people began flooding the account with even more questions about telling the kids apart. I mean, it's so interesting. Why are we all so interested in twins?

Jayna and Kinsley's mom then later explains how even though they try to make sure the two never get confused, they are definitely not perfect. We are all human after all.
