'Stranger Things' Season 4 has New and Old Kate Bush Fans at War on TikTok Right Now Since They Featured Her Song "Running Up That Hill"

It turns on Kate Bush is a Stranger Things fan and is stoked on the spotlight of her popular song “Running Up That Hill” from 1985. The song has gotten so popular since being on the show that you can't scroll TikTok without hearing it or some sort of cover or remix of it. Since the app is made popular by Gen-Zs, Gen-X and millennials, who were alive when the song was first released, are getting irritated. It's not that Gen-Z kids are enjoying the song, it's that they're “acting like they discovered it.”

"Running Up That Hill" was the first single from Bush's 1985 album Hounds of Love and was first released in the United Kingdom on August 5th of that year. It was her first 12-inch single and the song that first brought her attention in the U.S.—in fact, it's still her #1 song in America. However, teens on the app are pissing off the older generation of fans who grew up with Kate Bush because they don't want it to be known as the “Stranger Things song.”

This actually isn't even the first time one of Kate Bush's songs has trended on TikTok. Not too long ago her song “Babooshka” from 1980 was a common sound to hear while scrolling the app. However, it's “Running Up That Hill” that seems to be a sensitive point for her original fans. Many talk about the first time they heard that song and how epic and life changing it was to them. And now the new generation is getting introduced to the song from a mythical Sci-Fi show and it doesn't seem to be sitting right with these original fans. 

Even though her fans are currently at war, Bush is simply happy to give this song another breathe of life. It's music and that's part of the beauty of the art—it can be discovered at any point of its existence.
